106 registered houses, 64 shows, 42 performances, 9 days, various showrooms … A little less than a month ago was held the Paris fashion week spring / summer 2023, the last after New York, London and Milan.

But what should we learn from this month of fashion so coveted combining boldness, innovation and trend and that makes the capital live at 100 per hour for a few days? Let’s zoom in on the world’s most influential fashion houses such as Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Hermès.

1. Chanel, in a cinematic scene

It was at the Grand Palais Éphémère that the artistic director of Chanel, Virginie Viard, invited her guests, including Kristen Stewart, Diane Kruger, Stromae, Caroline de Maigret and Naomi Campbell. In a cinematic setting, shown on a 360° cinema screen of Alain Resnais’ “Last Year at Marienbad” (1961), CHANEL’s Spring-Summer 2023 Ready-to-Wear collection incites the very essence of “allure”, exploring a freedom of movement and expression.

2. Dior, tribute to Catherine de Medici

Contemporary dancers, black and white neo-gothic silhouettes in a baroque cave decor signed by Eva Jospin, Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior SS23 collection was full of references to Catherine de Medici to whom we owe in particular the use of heels, corset and Burano lace, introduced in the royal factories.

3. Louis Vuitton puts the emphasis on femininity

Nicolas Ghesquiere closed this fashion week in the majestic setting of the Cour Carré du Louvre by collaborating with French contemporary artist Philippe Parreno and set designer James Chinlund. The DA occupies a huge space with futuristic silhouettes and gives pride of place to the details infusing humor in these clothes.

4. Hermès, a dance in the desert

It is at the Tennis club of Paris that Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski took possession of the premises to present his collection focused on performance clothing named: a dance in the desert.

“When you dance, you just want to have a freedom of the body,” said the AD. “We’ve been so confined that I really wanted to celebrate going back outside, feeling the wind, the heat, the sweat on your skin.” Thus, we find in this fashion show various references to hiking, referring to the tent, the hammock.
